Richard Garza/Carlos
1858-59 – after 1880
Suggested son of Carlos de la Garza or Vicente de la Garza
Richard remains unmarried and works as a hired hand, living his whole life on San Antonio River Road. On the 1880 census, he lives on the ranch of stockraiser William Holliday (white) and wife Nancy Cromwell Holliday, working as a “hired hand”. That’s the last documentation we find on Richard. He possibly dies after his 21st birthday — of bilious fever?
He is most likely buried in the Sample Cemetery. He may be one of the first graves there in the 1880s.
